Retaining wall are good for many reasons. In this case, the customer likes to set on the deck and watch the wildlife, but the mess of the soil erosion, leaves and cracks in the basement were not pleasent to look at.  The hillside made any task even harder, especially walking or getting materials to the area. They were constantly having to add bagged soil, but the first time it rained the soil would wash away.  The retaining wall was nessacerry in this case to help prevent the erosion and add beauty to the home. The hillside is steep, so we also addded steps to prevent anyone from falling. You could add a small retaining wall around any flower bed to add beauty to your home and keep all of the mulch or rock in the flower beds where it belongs.

For the last 5 years Verona Caney Gardens and Roses Landscapes have joined together  to donate plants and time to the Relay For Life Cancer Society. The Relay for life  team works together for a very long time to get everything set up and make this event one of the best in Marshall County. The relay is a very emotional event that celebrates the life of people who have battled cancer and won and those who lost their lives to cancer. There are teams who camp out all night and do laps around the track . Each team is asked to  have at least one member on the track at all times during the night because cancer never sleeps. The relay honors the cancer survivors with  a Survivors Lap. This is a time where all the survivors can take there victory lap. They then join in with the caretakers, friends and family for a lap. The luminaria ceremony is a very emotional time for everyone, they cut all the lights off after dark and light candles in memory of a loved ones who have lost their lives to cancer. This is a beautiful and remarkable time and one of the many reasons to join in the Relay for life. There is good food, great people and a lifetime of memories. Each year the Relay has a different theme. This year was the western theme, we decorated with hay bales to show how hard and rough cancer can be and bandannas because so many cancer patents wear them. The Relay for Life has impacted so many lives and is a very special time for our community and friends. Designing, decorating and donating a little time and a few plants for the Relay every year gives us the chance to give back.
